Day 91 - Joy of ♥ 26: from Bulgaria with LOVE
Today is the 3rd of March. It's a national holiday in Bulgaria. 133 years ago Bulgaria regained its independence from the Ottoman Empire.
It's one of the few times that we all like to feel united love for our country.
Last year in IED Madrid I had to make a project for my PS class and present my country to the rest of the group. I was struggling with Photoshop at the time, but I spent almost the whole night creating it. I am a deep patriot and I love the fact I was born in Bulgaria. I hope more people feel the same way, too.

Some of the photos I used are from my personal archive, and some of them I borrowed from friends with permission, the rest I googled.

Day 63 - BULGARIA - A Bird's-Eye View by Alex Ivanov
Today I got an amazing gift from my father and I am super excited to share it with you. It's a book called BULGARIA - A Bird's-Eye View and it contains 222 aerial photographs taken by Alexander Ivanov (www.alexanderivanov.com). What's even cooler is that the book was specially signed for me by the author :)))))))
The book is a valuable collection of photographs of Bulgarian lands as seen from above, and I believe it is the only one of its kind. The author is known for shooting things as they are and rarely changing them even in terms of color...truly inspirational!
I am so happy this lovely book is now part of my bookshelf :))))))))

Day 62 - Tsarevets Fortress
Tsarevets Fortress is situated in the old capital of Bulgaria - Veliko Tarnovo. It has great historical value for all Bulgarians, and is currently one of the most visited tourist destinations in the country, both for locals and foreigners.
It's been snowing the last couple of days around here so my photo lacks a single living soul. But you'd better go there in spring, so you can take your time and climb it up to the top, and breathe in the beauty of this place. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsarevets)
I used to study here for a year and even though I moved after two semesters, it is still a place I'd love to come back whenever I can.

Day 28 - Night ride
It's snowing for real in Bulgaria...finally! Put your lights on and drive carefully ;)
Day 26 - Nostalgia
Bulgarian villages are becoming more and more deserted. And it's sad. Some of the best memories from my childhood are related to the weekends I spent with my grandparents at our village called Brestovo, Lovech Municipality, central north Bulgaria.
I've had the opportunity to travel a lot the last couple of years and I hardly stayed in one place, but whenever I came home I always try to find the time to go back there. Unfortunately, there is not much to come back to. Streets are empty, yards are silent, houses - locked up and asleep...
I hope with advanced transportation and better economical perspectives life changes so that people go back to their roots. I hope I could live to see that some day...

I came across another folder of old winter photos from one of the best winter holidays I've had so far, with some really, really great friends! (White Fir Resorts, January 2009)
I played around with PS for a while and added some oldies-goldies vintage effects so that I enhance on the "happy memories" look.
